Soothe your guests' taste buds with this sweet and spicy cola-glazed ham served best with store-bought mustards and chutneys to warm up their bellies in this chilling winter.
Add cola, mustard, brown sugar and red pepper flakes in a medium sized saucepan to boil. Let the mixture simmer on a low heat until slightly thickened with reduced glaze, taking about 20 to 30 minutes
Preheat oven to about 177 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, score ham using a sharp knife, making a grid pattern with 1/2 inch deep marks. Use a piece of buttered aluminium foil to line a roasting pan. Move ham to pan and get a third of the glaze on to ham using a pastry brush
Let it bake for one and a half hours and brush it with a third of the glaze. After baking for another hour, brush the remaining glaze as well. Get it baked for another half an hour until the instant-read thermometer reads 63 degrees Celsius when inserted into ham. Get it out of the oven and let it rest for about 20 minutes before it is ready to serve
These biscuits will please your guest best when served with Sweet and spicy cola-glazed ham accompanied with store-bought mustards and chutneys.
Preheat oven to 233 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, combine baking powder, flour, salt and pepper in a large bowl. With the help of your fingers or pastry cutter, cut in butter into it until the whole mixture starts resembling coarse crumbs. Add cheddar and buttermilk; stir the dough enough, so that it comes together
On a lightly floured surface, turn out the dough and divide it into equal halves, patting each one into a rectangle. Set aside a patted rectangle and cover it using a clean dish towel
Use your hands to work out the other rectangle, folding, flattening and repeating until the dough gets folded around 4 times. Keep patting until it gets 1 inch thick. Now cut out biscuits with the help of a 2-inch round cutter (or any other shape you like). Repeat the same process with the reserved piece of dough rectangle until all is cut into biscuits
Bake the biscuits using baking sheets until they get golden on top, usually taking 15 to 18 minutes
